The Auesee in Wesel is a large bathing lake with a beach, around ten minutes by car from the apartment. The circular path around the lake is ideal for walking, jogging and cycling, and in season you can add sailing, stand-up paddling and pedal boats. A laid-back destination for a relaxed afternoon by the water.
A natural spectacle
The Bislicher Insel is a nature reserve in the Rhine meadows between Xanten and Wesel. In the winter months thousands of wild geese rest here – an impressive natural spectacle that you can watch from the paths and from the information centre. Easily reached by bike, the island is a rewarding destination for anyone seeking peace and open space.

After a day by the water you return to the green, quiet setting of the Gartenblick holiday apartment. The Rhine dyke is only a few minutes' walk away, and you round off the evening on the balcony overlooking the garden.
